Password Manager

When trying to automatically login to some websites, no fields are filled out. This is probably caused by the website changing the way login is achieved, perhaps with popup screens. An example of this is the bbc account website - https://www.bbc.com/account

My password manager icon usually has a red square with a numeral inside. What does this signify?
