About toolbar...

Question about toolbar: other than providing site ratings and Pay Guard, what else the toolbar is doing????

Even without toolbar the main application TM will block malicious websites and will scan downloads.

Personally I do not feel the need of activating this , as Google Chrome is secured enough for financial transactions and TM main application detects malicious websites.

Hi @claudiubotezatu,

This is a good question.

The Trend Micro Toolbar serves as an extension of the Web Reputation Service. Even without the Trend Micro Toolbar, malicious URLs are blocked automatically. The primary intention of this feature is to help customer decide if a link points to a malicious websites by providing a visual deterrent.

Here are some helpful links about Trend Micro Toolbar.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

@tm_helen

Thank you for your answer!

I am reluctant to install TM toolbar; it is the only thing pushed for mandatory installation:

  1. First, during initial TM install you are somehow forced to install the toolbar in your browser
  2. If you decline, later-on a pop up will ask you again to install the toolbar.
  3. If you say NO, a survey will pop-up asking you why.

No other TM component gets the same attention like this toolbar.

Hi @claudiubotezatu,

This pop-up is intended to promote the Trend Micro toolbar feature when the installed antivirus detects that it is still uninstalled or disabled on the browser in order to prevent customers from accessing malicious or dangerous websites, which can also result in a fake browser notification.

If you choose "Not now" or "X," the pop-up will reappear in 24 hours.
There is no limit or count for the pop-up unless you click the "Do not show this again" message.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

This extremely irritating pop-up requiring use of the chrome protection software by Trend Micro  does not even stop showing when ticking the “Don’t Show This Again” box that provides false hope to the user in stopping the madness.

said the same thing here:

It seems like the toolbar is the main tool which helps TM to collect info about your  browsing habits.....

Install it in Chrome and disable it after. Also turn OFF "Social Networking Protection"
