I need to add something to your 'exceptions' list, but am not able to find the 'settings' icon - in Windows

If you still can't see the settings icon, please try to upgrade your Trend Micro program to the latest version.

I did find it and I did add the program I needed to add to the 'exceptions list,' but I'm still getting the VERY annoying notices from Trend Micro about this 'unknown' program. It's not unknown, it's been on my computer doing its excellent job for years.
