Running Maximum Security and Password Manager on Windows 11

I purchased a new Microsoft Surface Go 3 and wanted to protect the device which is running Windows 11.  I tried, but I cannot install the software unless I disable S mode.  I don't think that is a good idea.  What am I doing wrong?

Pretty sure that if your system is a "S mode" one that you can only install software that is from the Microsoft Store, no other software can be installed.  S mode would have to be disabled to install software from outside the store.

Hi, drcsue!

Welcome to Trend Micro Home Users Community.

Windows 10 in S mode runs only apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to permanently switch out of S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode, but you won't be able to turn it back on.

What you can install on a computer with S Mode is our Trend Micro Security for Microsoft Edge.  Here's how to install it:

Is it dangerous or smart to take the Surface out of S mode?
