Restart browser pop up

At start up, the pop up "Please Restart Your Browser" appears. It's apparently referring to Firefox but clicking the "Restart Now" button has no effect and the pop up reappears after shut down or restart.

I get that too but for Adobe.  At least once or twice a month. Weird.  When I do update, it states that I have to be logged in as an Administrator.  Mine is a home computer and I am the only one that has a sign on or uses this computer.

Hi @josephscott65,

Welcome to Trend Micro Home Users Community!

To better assist you with this, may we know what browser are you using and its version?

We would also appreciate it if you can provide us a screenshot of the message you are receiving.

Hi, @rglimpse55

Can you check the version of your Trend Micro program? Here's How to check if you have the latest version on Windows.

Is the Trend Micro toolbar enabled on your Firefox browser?

1. Click the menu button, click Add-ons and Themes, and select Extensions.
2. Scroll through the list of extensions and look for Trend Micro if it's enabled.

Hi, Zeph.

Can you try to do a clean reinstall? Here's how you can do it:

1. Check and delete all Trend Micro folders and files manually in the following locations:

○ Program Files
○ Program Data
○ AppData

a. Delete Temp and %temp% files
b. Empty the Recycle Bin

2. Run Remnant File Remover Tool: Delete old Trend Micro files with Remnant File Remover Tool

3. Reinstall Maximum Security using the installer on this link: How to install Trend Micro Maximum Security

Let us know how it goes.

HI,
I have already tried to reinstall TMMS several times, to try remove the icon from the tray and the icon is still there! Now got the message Restart browser appears as well, then I tried reinstalling TMMS again, but Windows11 doesn't seem to react well anymore.  ...So I'll have to reinstall Windows as well! I have installed Window 11 and reinstalled TMMS again and now folder shield seems not working (see S.Shot).
I'm sorry, but after all these inconveniences and time waste, I don't feel safe installing Maximum security again.

I think I will stay with windows security for a while, waiting for an update from you that fixes these problems.

Thx anyway for Your support
Best Regards.

Apologies for the inconveniences this has caused you, Zeph

May I know if you already tried to Delete or Uninstall old Trend Micro files with Remnant File Remover Tool before reinstalling the program? Also, please check if your browsers are up-to-date for the program to install updates.

You may also try to follow these steps below:

  1.  On your keyboard, please press the Windows icon and R key at the same time.
  2. Type supporttool and click OK.
  3. Click Yes when the User Account Control window appears.
  4. On the Diagnostic Toolkit window, click the (C) Uninstall tab, then click 5. Stop all components
  5. Wait for a minute, then click on 2. Delete Now and 3. Delete Now
  6. Wait for another minute then open the Trend Micro app.
  7. Click the Human icon on the upper-right. Choose About the Software and wait for the update to finish.

Let us know how it goes.

Greetings,

I just installed Windows 11 (on erased SSD) and the TMMS installation was done as soon as the Windows updates was finished.

I also exactly followed Your steps above, but the problem is still there. Folder shield icon badge is missed on the protected folders. (See s.shot)

So, …are the folders really protected or it’s just the icons shield badge missed?

Thank you for your reply, Zeph.

Rest assured that those folders will have an extra layer of defense that limits access to your important files as long as the right path is added under Folder Shield.
