The last message that I received (today) said that I should be running TM Maximum Security V17.8.1192 but when I checked "about software" it tells me that I am running V17.7.1979. Can anyone explain this version discrepancy?

I have the 17.8.1192 version.  Try a manual update.

Hi @mrg55,

Since the upgrade is not proceeding on your computer, you may uninstall the old version installed and manually install the latest version of Trend Micro. You can follow the instructions below:

  1. Click here to download Trend Micro Maximum Security.
  2. Run the installer. Double-click the downloaded installer file to start. If you are not sure where to find it, it is likely in the Downloads folder.
  3. Complete the setup. Follow the remaining prompts, then wait for the installation to complete. You may be prompted to enter some information; kindly provide it as needed.
  4. Perform a manual update by clicking 'About the Software.' After checking for updates, the version number should be 17.8.1192.

Please let us know how it goes. Hope this helps!

I suspect that the version numbers quoted are for windows 8 and up. I am running windows 7 pro. Is this relevant?

Hi @mrg55 ,

While Trend Micro 17.7.1979 still works with Windows 7, the latest version 17.8.1192 will only be available for some editions of Windows 10 and Windows 11. The end of support day for Windows 7 was on January 14, 2020 and after this date, we can only provide limited technical support for issues encountered on Windows 7. Windows 7 users can still visit our Support Website for technical solutions or can consider upgrading to the latest operating system to stay protected.
