Extend the List of Websites to be Ran in PayGuard

Hello,

It looks like your original idea has been to run banking and shopping websites in PayGuard, however the software doesn't seem to recognise all of them, specially UK-based shopping websites.

Bellow is a list of websites that would be best ran in PayGuard.

Not sure why Apple.com is not on the list, as according to the logic for all shopping websites to be used in PayGuard, it should be, together with apple.co.uk.

Hi, bvasilev.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We'll forward your suggestion to our developers so they can check and evaluate how they can make this possible in the future. In the meantime, you may manually add them to the Protected Website List. You may refer to these steps below:

  1. Open the Main Console
  2. Go to Privacy and click the Configure button for Pay Guard
  3. Click OK on the Introduction page.
  4. Then, click + Add to add the website.

Hope this helps.

Hi, apart from adding the websites I saw another behaviour, which probably goes against the main idea. When typing amazon.com, a PayGuard suggestion appears. If an amazon.com link pointing to an item for sale is opened (e.g from a google search result), there is no suggestion. It might be a good idea to reduce the URL parser sensitivity, so that even when long links are opened, suggestion would still appear.

Just an update about this bvasilev, the complied links in PbBankingList.txt are websites where the Pay Guard promotion will show. It aims to promote the existence of this feature. Based on our research, these are high-traffic and top banking and shopping sites from different regions. For any website you want to run on Pay Guard, you may opt to add it to the Protected Website List.

We'll definitely share this list with our developers and let them know of your suggestion. Thank you!

@reine_roque Hello,

Adding those websites to the list is beneficial for a purpose much greater than promoting the feature existence (though this is already great by itself, as many users might not be aware of the feature). Adding those websites to the list can actually be used to tell when a website if genuine or fraudulent. Because the Pay Guard alert will appear only on pre-added websites, not appearing on that PayPal page that was just clicked in an email might raise a suspicion... This can greatly increase the phishing protection.

Users will know that when a site is truly legit, Pay Guard prompt appears.

To go a step further with that a text like "We have identified this website as genuine" can be added to this prompt, alongside what's already written now.

It's just a simple improvement of something that's already there that can save quite a lot of headache. And all without increasing false positives.
