Hi, chastidswell!

Welcome to Trend Micro Home Users Community.

We would like to take a look at this closely. Is it okay if we try to restart your Trend Micro components to check if the Trend Micro main console will open again. Kindly follow the instruction below and monitor the issue.

1. Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run window.
2. In the Open field, type supporttool.exe, then click OK.
3. Click Yes when the User Account Control window appears. The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit will open.

4. Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
5. Click 5. Stop all components.

6. Check if the issue still persists.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi

Thanks for coming back so quick.

Tried suggestions and icon disappeared.

On reboot same thing happens again.

Right clicking on icon says

  • Trend Micro Internet Security
  • Pin to task bar
  • Close all windows.

Clicking on 3 closes icon down.

Seems to me that some code is missing from programme which stops icon closing.

With icon still on task bar, under processes Apps in task manager it says

  • Task manager
  • Trend Micro Client Console.

Version of Trend is 17.7.1130

Hope this helps.

Regards

Hi chastidswell,

The Trend Micro on your taskbar means that the Trend Micro main console is running or a pop up from the Trend Micro software is open. May I know if you are able to open the Trend Micro main console?

Also, Is it possible to send a screenshot of your concern so we can fully help you.

Please refer to the link below for the steps to take a screenshot:

The main console still opens as norma.

4. Restart the computer and monitor the issue.
