potential ransomware

I've just downloaded the build tools for Windows 10 (Codelite and Mingw) but when I launch it and run my program, Trend Micro Maximum Security blocks it because it is seen as a potential ransomware. Is this a known issue?

Hi @kwesi74,

It's not uncommon for a security software to flag development tools like Codelite and Mingw as potential threats, especially if they exhibit behavior typical of malware, such as modifying system files or accessing sensitive areas of your system. However, it's always a good idea to verify the legitimacy of the software you're using.

Here are a few steps you can take:

  1. Check the Source: Ensure that you downloaded Codelite and Mingw from reputable sources. Official websites or trusted repositories are usually safe bets.

  2. Update Security Software: Make sure your Trend Micro program is up to date. Sometimes, false positives can be caused by outdated software. Check if the version of your Trend Micro program is 17.8. To check for program version, you may click here

Also, a screenshot of the blocking message would be highly appreciated so we can further investigate on the issue.

Looking forward to your response.
