Windows security updates compatibility registry key

Missing registry key from AV vendor prevents Windows security updates. According to this link:

computers without this registry key are unable to receive security updates from January, 2018, which include patches for Meltdown-Spectre, the workaround for the Intel CPU bug. My Dell Vostro running the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update does not have this setting and according to the update history my last update was mid December and I'm up to date. This compatibility setting was originally present to indicate AV was not making kernel calls that caused BSOD, which I have not seen with Trend Micro Maximum Security version 12.0.1191. We can supposedly add the missing key to the registry to get the latest security update. However, I don't know what side effects this might have for TM. Is TM planning to address this issue?
