Windows recently started an update and asked as usual download now or later. I selected during the night. When I got up my computer was corrupted and I couldn't access any of my files nor programs including Trend Micro. Why in the world didn't your program prevent that from happening?! I had to pay to get my computer fixed by geek squad. So why am I buying your software year after year????!!!!! I thought I was protected!!

Why are you blaming TrendMicro for a Microsoft issue?  I've been running with TrendMicro for years, and on some support computers I don't have TrendMicro on, just because of the needs, and the Windows Update (ver 1709 / 1803)  has caused major issues, including corruption.  It had nothing to do with TrendMicro, but with the software release from Microsoft causing the issue.

Hi, mdp6181. Our apologies if you encountered this issue after receiving updates from Microsoft. We hope we can still help you with this. Are you receiving any error message when trying to open files or programs on your PC?

Please also know that if the user allowed a certain program to be installed, the Trend Micro program won't be able to interfere.. not to mention Windows Updates is a legitimate chunk of file so it's assumed that the update should not cause any harm to the PC.

Thank you for your consideration. :)

-I'm not a Trend MIcro representative, but I like to give you some suggestion-

1- Can you access Windows Update control panel? In this case you can try to deinstall all the last updates from the updates history screen. Sorry, I do not know the exact name in english version. MAy be the simplest thing to do now: deinstall all updates installed last night.

2- Can you post a screenshot of the exact error?

3- Do you have a backup? In this case a restore will be the fastest solution.

4- In case the issue appears after installing April Update (1803) you can check AT THIS PAGE

5- Try also to run windows update trobleshoot as per image attached (search for 'Troubleshoot' in english version).

Anyway this is not a Trend Micro related issue.

Hello, mdp6181! Thanks for your replies, folks. Ven & Max Slo.

Aside from the suggestions above, you might want to check this link if your Trend Micro program has been uninstalled.

Please let us know how it goes. Kind regards! :)
