Hi, I keep getting a pop up trying to get money from Windows activation technologies. My trend hasn't done anything to stop it and rkill hasn't worked either?

Hello rick ! Welcome to the community!

We understand that you are continuously getting pop-ups on your computer and that the Trend Micro program has not detected anything with regard to that matter. Allow me to help you with this.

Can we check if you are using a registered Windows Operating System? It might also state that you are not running a genuine copy of windows. It can be a prompt from your operating system to remind you to activate it. You may contact Microsoft Windows for more help with regard to this matter.

Also, can you recall installing anything in the past days or even before experiencing this issue? They might be the ones that are giving these pop ups on your computer.

I would suggest that you check the installed programs on your computer by checking the Programs and Features by executing the run command. Try Pressing and holding the Windows Key and then hit the R button once. On the pop up window that will appear, kindly input the command appwiz.cpl. This will show the installed programs on your computer and do a check on the programs that you are not familiar with.

If there are programs that you do not recall installing, kindly do a search for it on Internet and have it removed if it seems suspicious. If you are not quite sure, just provide us the screenshot here on the error/message that you are receiving and as well as the Programs and features portion of your computer so we can check the installed programs on your computer.

We are looking forward for your response.

no recent installs.  most recent was firefox update and security two weeks ago.  This has been around for a long time, surprised you don't have something for it.  WAT 2.2?

Hello there rick !

Thanks for the quick response.

Did you use any third party applications to activate your Operating System? Do you mean to tell that you have used the WAT2.2 program to do so? Or is it the one that is causing the pop-ups notifying you about the activation concern?

All of my software is licensed.  I have not used any third party apps to activate my OS.  WAT2.2 is what I found on the web.  There are removal tools, I used rkill by malwarebytes but it keeps coming back.  its not an activation concern its them trying to dupe you into thinking you are out of date and getting money out of me!

Hi @rick,

Thank you for your response. Can you provide us a screenshot of the exact message you are getting from your PC regarding this program, just like what @Tom Emmelot mentioned above?

You may try removing this program from the Control Panel if you'll see any program related to it.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Have a great day! :)
