Thanks for letting us know about this issue. Do you mean you saw an error for shortcut Launcher.exe when you was trying to install the Trend Micro Security you downloaded?

Could you please provide the URLs which you downloaded the installer and a screenshot of the pop-up message, so we can investigate further on our end. Here's a support page for your reference: Taking a screenshot to send to Trend Micro Technical Support

We'll assist you when we received the detailed information.

I saw the ShorcutLauncher.exe Application Error dialogue box after I rebooted the PC - which was after I had downloaded and installed Trend.

Every time I rebooted the PC Trend would take a long time to startup and then I would see the dialogue box with the exception code error. I uninstalled Trend rebooted the PC and the error went away. I downloaded, installed and rebooted again and the error appeared again.

I downloaded from here http://shop.trendmicro.com.au/getMaxOnline/

Can't take a screenshot right now as I'm not in the same location as the PC. But essentially it looked like the following (just substitute the program name qBittorrent in the top bar with ShorcutLauncher.exe and thats what keeps popping up on booting the PC up with trend installed.

Hey Tom - its not installed on the PC - I was just using the dialogue box image above (which I found on Google images) as an example of the exception code I keep getting when Trend is installed - I.e. substitute the words qBittorrent v3.0.9: qbittorrent.exe for StartupLauncher.exe

Cheers
Steve

Thanks for the clarification! The common reason of this error is incorrect or failed installation or uninstallation of software that may have left invalid entries in the Windows registry or improper system shutdown due to a power failure or another factor.

I checked your account information and verified that the product you are subscribing is Trend Micro Internet Security. Please follow the steps below to uninstall the current program and reinstall Trend Micro Internet Security to solve this problem.

Step 1. download the Uninstall Tool from this page and perform it.

Step 2. download the Remnant File Remover Tool from this page and perform it.

Step 3. download Trend Micro Internet Security from this page and install it.

It's quite a few steps to perform, but please do let us know if it solves your error code issue. We'll assist you if you still encounter problems.

Hi Steve, sorry that above solution didn't work for you.

Since this error could possibly cause by internal registry conflict or corrupt program installation, please refer to the following steps to check your OS system:

  1. Click Start bottom and search cmd.
  2. When cmd.exe appears, right-click it and select Run as administrator. This will open the Command Prompt window as an administrator.
  3. Type or copy and paste “sfc/scannow”, then press Enter. Windows Resource Protection will scan your system to see if there's any integrity violation.

If this solution still could not solve your problem, I suggest contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance.
