Why is windows 10 file explorer slow to create or delete folders when Trend is running?

It can take up to 60 seconds to create or delete a folder in Windows 10 with Trend active. Disabling Trend resolves the issue and folders are created and deleted with no delay.

Thanks for reporting the issue here. This could be related to a current issue with the latest version. If you haven't upgraded to the 2017 version then you may want to try upgrading first:

Internet Security 2017

If you are already on the 2017 version then you could try running the hotfix provided on this guide:

[Hotfix] Accessing files via shared folder is slow when Trend Micro Security is running

I think I figured out the solution on my own. I uninstalled Trend Internet Security and chose not to use the ransomware folder protection on the new installation. I was able to access my folders normally once ransomware protection was disabled.

Hi jb20147,

When you say Ransomware Folder Protection, did you mean Folder Shield?
The root cause of the problem is a component of the Ransomware solution and the hotfix provided above corrects the problem. But I have not considered Folder Shield could be a root cause. It would help me a lot if you could confirm this information.

During installing a window appears that says something about "Randsomware Folder Protection". You would need to check internally with Trend if that is your marketing term for "Folder Shield".
