For your particular concern about the Intel bug that has been recently been reported, you can click on this link for you to see the steps on how you can add a value on the Windows Registry. This link already has a download button for you to get a file so that you will just have to run it. One wrong move on the Windows Registry and your computer may not behave normally.

Nice!  I was going to create a .reg file and upload it to Github for people.

One of my computers already had this registry setting before I did the Windows update. But it has Microsoft Security Essentials on it.  Perhaps this registry key was added by the antimalware solution as part of a standalone update?

We have published this article on our support page since the Microsoft update that is happening requires the Antivirus programs to be compatible with it. Once the registry entry is added the Windows operating system can get the update from the servers of Microsoft and install it on computers that have a Trend Micro program without any hiccups. Since the Trend Micro program updates every 3 hours we are already on the stage of customizing this update so  customers can expect that their Trend Micro program will also have the "AllowRegKey" entry and not anymore need to do the steps on the article that we published.
