'Website Blocked' pop-up for the Parental Controlled categories are super annoying. Every webpage nowadays have advertisements so every webpage gets this pop-up. Trendmicro used to block the ads silently until recent update.

Hello minnamacleod and welcome to the Community!

Thank you for letting us know about this problem that you are experiencing. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The pop-up behavior that you are getting from Parental Controls are actually normal especially when you are browsing something from the internet that is supposed to be blocked by Trend Micro Security depending on the age category or settings that you set for Parental Controls.

Since enabling Parental Controls initially aims to limit internet access to kids, you may temporarily turn off Parental Controls while you are browsing the internet then turn it back on once it's time for the kids to use the computer.

I hope this helps!

Should you have any other concern, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Have a great day!

Regards,
Pat

Thanks Pat for reply.

I have using the Parental Controls' to block web advertisement and other unwanted categories for a very long. The ads were being blocked without the popups. Just clicking on this page popped up an ad block message.  There is big increase in the pop ups since the recent update. Every new page pops up new messages plus it interrupts your input in login fields.

I also use AdBlock Plus. There are  165000 ads blocked but no popups. I can disable the ad block when a website requires it by clicking on the toolbar icon. Perhaps Trendmicro could have a browser toolbar icon  that the users can use to temporarily/permanently allow the blocked content instead of the popups.

I hope  someone looks into whats changed. There is trend on this topic here.

I have Trend Micro Maximum Security Version: 12.0.1226.

I have been very satisfied with Trend Micro for protecting all my devices many many years.

Hello minnamacleod,

Thank you for the updates. We will need to gather several information about your computer and the Trend Micro program itself in order for us to have an in-depth idea about what could be the possible root cause. Kindly provide us with the following:

  1. Settings of your Parental Controls (age category, blocked websites, etc.)
  2. Web browser in use
  3. Operating System
  4. Screeenshots of the pop-up message from Trend Micro Security
We will be waiting for your updates. Thank you so much.

Regards,
Pat

Look - it is very simple.  People have been telling you at Trend this over and over.

1) People want parental locks and are happy with the blocking function

2) They are NOT happy with endless "website blocked" notifications.

Make an option to stop the "website blocked" popups.  Parental controls are currently UNUSABLE due to popups every few seconds of web searching.

Fix it.  Thanks.

Hello micks_email,

Welcome to  the Community.

We're sorry to hear about your experience.

I don't think you're getting a pop-up due to your Parental Control Settings. It is because, blocking by Parental Controls aren't pop-ups but a blocking page from the web browser itself and not a pop-up. I think you're having issues with the Data Theft Prevention feature of Trend Micro Security.

You may check this out for more details: “Transfer of Protected Data Blocked” error message appears when visiting web pages

In addition to this, upgrading to the latest version of Trend Micro Security might help. Please go here for more details: Upgrading Trend Micro Security software to the latest version

Pat
