Hi RCHALLPA and welcome to the community,

For your inquiry about "WannaCry", Trend Micro is already aware of andhas been closely monitoring the latest ransomware outbreak that is WannaCry orWRCY. Trend Micro has already added detections for this threat which wasreleased into our Official Pattern Release (OPR), and will continue to add anynew ones that are discovered accordingly.

I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to post here any time for your concerns

To add:
Enable Folder Shield! This feature keeps out any process you did not allow to access your files in it and is available in Antivirus+

"Trend Micro has already added detections for this threat ..."

Well, don't you think is a little bit too late to "add detection" after the fact???

Somehow, I believed that Trend would rely on a signature-less mechanism to detect such a threat (heuristics, behavior blocker, sandboxing, running the threat in a virtual machine, etc), rather than "adding detection" after....

Hi claudiu_botezatu,

Actually, Trend Micro has been tracking wcry since April-2017.
We definitely need to keep our detections updated as this malware progresses, thus adding detections.

Trend Micro (Antivirus+/Internet/Maximum) Security provides different layers of protection against ransomware, from malicious behavior, email, links and files associated with it and the last layer of defense, Folder Shield, will not allow any untrusted process to access your files

To know more about how Trend Micro can protect you from wcry, read here.
