since I had to renew and upgrade, the box blocking "protected data" pops up every second. I wind up having to remove protection for 30 minutes to stay on sites that were never an issue before. I even had to turn off the protection to log into this site. It just comes up on websites I've used for years, and now being on those sites is almost impossible.

Welcome to the Community, Rjg1!

Sorry to hear about your experience with our latest updates for our Trend Micro features especially the Date Theft Prevention feature. But be advised that these changes were made for your safety and prevention of your credentials being stolen.

To avoid frequent notifications from this feature, type the last 8 digits of your credit card number on the Data Theft Prevention feature. This is best practice for greater filtering. You may configure the Data Theft Prevention feature by opening Privacy tab on the Trend Micro program main console.

You may refer on this link for more information.

Have a lovely day. :)

Having to turn off the protection so often is actually making me more, not less, vulnerable. Having to enter most of my credit card numbers to protect the number is at best counterintuitive. If this is the only solution, I wii just pick a different protection. Have a lovely day, too.

Hello Rjg1,

Having to enter the last 8 digits of the credit card number is not counter intuitive, since it is impossible for anyone to have the same credit card number we encourage our customers to enter the last 8 digits so that they will not get the message. If you only enter the last 3 or 4 digits there is a chance that when you type a series of numbers that matches the last 3 or 4 digits it will be blocked since the program recognizes it.

I hope this clarifies your concern.

Thank you and have a great week!

Hello Rjg1 ,

May we know if there is an error message when you are trying to open the Trend Micro program? Does it says that you need to be connected to the Internet or does it just won't open?

We would like to know more about what seems to have happened and what was the last thing that you have done before this problem occurred.

We are looking forward to your response so we can help you further.

Regards,

Windows alerted me that trend micro was off. I don’t know why. When I tried to open the tm program from both the desktop shortcut, the file, and the windows warning the program would not respond. Went to your worksite, downloaded anew, and it is on, albeit useless as pop up warnings appear every second on this upgraded wersion.

No, I can't. I found out about Mute mode and used that. But, I was just not happy with this upgraded version so I uninstalled it and I am using a different vendor's protection.Thank you for everything. The only other thing would be to get a rebate on the unused portion of this year's trend micro: I renewed in Sept. 2017 for a year, but I am not going to use your product for now.

Hi Rig1,

Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers.
I am a user of TM since 1998 and also tester and i like the product and compare it with other AV products, but not a employee of TM!
They try to help you at any point with the product.
Here under a AV test that is done a few months ago.

Hope you make the right choice!

Kind regards,
Tom
