Update notification option over automatic updates

The one thing that always gets on my nerves with Trend Micro is the automatic updates. I understand why it needs to happen. But it makes the computer run super slow and gets in the way of things (like watching a movie where Windows Media Player and Windows itself will freeze up for a minute). And Trend Micro is the last thing one my mind when I wonder why my computer is acting up (I like to think the Anti Virus software won't give me any troubles 120% of the time)

I'd like there to be a notification saying that there are updates available rather than Trend Micro updating automatically. And then I can choose to update or not. Or if that's not possible, have Trend Micro automatically update when the computer is not too busy.

Hi efh_7394,

I'm sorry to hear of your experience. The automatic updates cannot be turned off because it will compromise your security. It is important because the Trend Micro program gets info about the latest threats through updates. Please make sure that there is no conflicting software installed on your computer as it also causes slow down.

I understand that. Though I would like there to be a notification letting users know that Trend Micro is updating, so we can pause whatever it is we're doing and let Trend Micro update. It's very annoying to be in the middle of doing something and then have the computer freeze up because Trend Micro is updating.

Hello efh_7394,

Thank you for that suggestion but the Trend Micro program runs on a real-time basis and it is designed to check for updates every 3 hours as long as your device is connected to the Internet. But the latest version of the program has a feature called Mute Mode which temporarily stops non-critical notifications while you are doing an important task.

To know more about this feature, you can refer to the link below.

Have a good day! :)
