Unknown Folders in Folder Shield

On my mac I'm getting disc installed alerts but I'm not actually adding any discs or usb sticks. I can run a scan but everything checks out OK.
I just don't recognise multiple folders and files in my folder shield.
Can anyone advise if these activities are malicious?

Thanks
Rob

So using Disk Utility I managed to unmount the Dropbox installer volume so that one has now gone.
In terminal I see the following volumes:-

Are these legit?

Hi dionin,

Thanks for posting your concern here.

About the alert notification that you're getting, can you identify the drives that are being detected? Also, where does it appear?

About the volumes that appears in your Mac, Macintosh HD, Recovery and Preboot are definitely legit. The rest, we're not sure. Don't you have any other drives on your Mac at the moment.

Regards,
Pat

Hi Pat

The folders are shown in my screen grabs which I attached.

Look for anything longer than the standard user folders. I haven't customised the folder shield options since enabling it.

Hi dionin

By any chance, did you receive this pop-up message?

If so, please run the hotfix in this link:

[Hotfix] Your Antivirus for Mac always notifies when a new device is connected to your Mac

Let us know how it goes.

Hi There

Yes. That pop up alerts me to the activity for the folders.
I prefer to know events are happening even if I don't yet fully understand the reason for them, for unknown folders, so I'm less likely inclined to mask the pop ups for now until I'm happy that they are just genuine non-malicious activity.

Rob

The pop-ups are non-malicious, it's just that Antivirus for Mac notifies you when there is a driver installation or whenever an ISO or DMG file is mounted.
