Turn off "Website Blocked" pop up notifications

Trend Micro Maximum Security is generating a Pop Up when it blocks websites that it is supposed to block.  The problem is it interrupts what I was doing on a website as I have to click Ok and then go back to the web browser only to have another Pop Up notice from Trend Micro Maximum Security.

I've even turned on the "Mute Mode" and adjusted the settings as noted above all to no avail.

I've made the change in the settings under scan preferences to uncheck the box "Display a warning after detecting viruses, spyware, or suspicious behavior" to no avail as well.

The whole reason I purchased and activated the Parental Controls in Trend Micro is so that it would block sites automatically and Silently without notifying me, except to display a placeholder on the website if it blocked a 3rd party link.

If this is a feature that can't be disabled, I'm going to have to start looking for an alternate parental control/web filter software package as the warning messages are as bad as the web advertisement Pop Ups themselves...

Following is one example of many messages I want to suppress as I don't need to be notified each time something is blocked.

I'm using a trial of Trend Micro Maximum for tests and I have not Pop-Ups.
A message that the site is blocked due to parental control appears into the browser.

Are you using last product version? 12.0.1191?

Hello tmuser ! Welcome to the community!

We understand that you are having troubles with the Trend Micro Pop up when visiting a website even if you have enabled the Mute Mode Feature.

The Mute Mode Feature only stops the following Trend MIcro pop ups or notifcations:

  • Windows Update, if enabled
  • Detected threats and no further action are needed from you
  • Monthly Report
  • Popup message about Folder Shield settings
  • Notification about your license and subscription
  • Boot up time optimization popup
  • Firewall Booster popup, if enabled
  • WiFi Advisor popup, if enabled
  • Data Theft Prevention popup, if set up
  • Trend Micro toolbar notification
  • Password Manager popup
If there will be any critical notification that will on your screen even if the Mute Mode is enabled, this means that it needs critical attention as your computer's security might be compromised.

Our security program is only doing what it is designed to do; secure your computer by providing warning and notifying you that something is happening in the background of your computer. The sites that you might have been visiting may contain hidden scripts that even when you do a single click on any part of the page, it may trigger or allow a malware to enter on your computer that is why the Trend Micro security has been continuously warning you about it.

May we know what sites are you visiting? So our team can check them and reclassify those sites and update our patterns if ever no malicious activities are present. We would appreciate the help that you can provide and I hope that you understand.

You may do the checks of the sites on our Site Safety Checker.

I hope this helps.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) 64 bit.

I keep encountering pop-up notices like this and I want them to go away because I can't use Firefox Quantum (61.0.1 64-bit) or Chrome (67.0.3396.99 64-bit) as it takes focus and sends these applications into the background until I either click Ok or go back to the web browser.

Here is a short list of some of the sites I am encountering issues in Chrome and Firefox:
www.ebay.com
www.amazon.com
www.trendmicro.com
www.google.com
www.fcpeuro.com
www.startribune.com
www.idrive.com
www.ooma.com
www.irs.gov
www.facebook.com
www.usbank.com
www.bankofamerica.com
www.wellsfargo.com
www.bnymellon.com
www.citibank.com
www.chase.com
www.generalmills.com

Below is what happens when I browse E-Bay using Internet Explorer 11 (Version 11.0.9600.18665).  This is the exact behavior I want to have happen, not the above like I experience with Firefox and Chrome as this does not interrupt my browsing experience.

Before suggesting to only use Internet Explorer, there are some issues with the above sites not displaying correctly on IE, so I need to use Firefox and/or Chrome.

Hi tmuser,

Can you please check the configuration of your Parental Controls feature? You can access that by opening the Trend Micro console and clicking on "Family" > Parental Controls > Configure.

Feel free to send screenshots for the configuration.

Thanks!

Click on Manage Accounts to see the detailed configurations. Make sure website filter is not set to Child.

If you disable the Parental Controls, do you encounter the same issue?

Thanks!

Turns out that it looks like Internet Security does not support the 64 bit version of Firefox.  I installed the 32 bit version and now it seems to work and if the site is blocked, it shows up inside the webpage and no obtrusive pop-up from Trend Micro Internet Security reporting it blocked the page.

Will there be an update coming out in the future where you support 64 bit installations of Firefox and Chrome?

Thanks

Are these the settings you wanted to see?  Or is there a different menu?

I am not using "Child" setting for protection.

The issue goes away if I turn off Parental Controls.  However that doesn't solve the problem as I use Parental Controls to not only block questionable sites, but to primarily block ad services (especially poorly written ones that slow down/crash the browsers).

Is it that Trend Micro is not compatible with 64 bit Browsers that I am running into these issues?  I just noticed you don't list Firefox 64 bit on your requirements list, but you do list the 32 bit version.  I'm downloading it now and will be trying it next.
