I would like to temporarily turn off the firewall. I have a desktop with Windows 7pro and a laptop with Windows 10 connected on the same network. However I cannot see the opposite computer 's shared files. I believe the firewalls are interfering. Can you help?

Hi patwayned,

Welcome to the Community!

You can disable the firewall from Control Panel.

Hi patwayned,

Is there any error message?

Here is a link I found on google for the instructions on how to turn off the firewall:

Hi patwayned

The reason your net work connection is not cumming up is that in Win 10 "Home network",  is not a part anymore!
On both computers you must go to "Network Center" then chose "Advanced Share"
Private Network:
Put on "Network detection"
All Networks:
Put on "enable sharing"
Put on "switch off with password sharing"
Click on "safe changes"
After this Reboot and does the same with the other computer.
This will do the trick
Dont put off the firewall!!

Kind regards,
Tom
