Trend slows down Chrome to unusable speed

Chrome takes 6-8 seconds just to open, and another 5 or so to open the first blank tab with Trend enabled. Further browsing is horribly slow. The entire process is almost instantaneous with Trend disabled. Edge and IE are also both slower but not nearly as much.

I found that disabling the setting, "Check if programs try to make unauthorized changes to system settings and files that could threaten your security" removed the delay but I'd rather not disable that setting.

Is there some other configuration change that will allow web browsers to function properly?
(Already tried adding them to the exclusions list, no change whatsoever)

Thank you for reporting this issue. For your situation, first, could you please check the list in the following online doc to make sure if conflict software exists.
Programs to remove before installing Trend Micro Security (see the "List Of Programs To Remove" section)

Also, the slow performance of Chrome could be due to background internet traffic from programs that you've installed unknowingly. These programs, commonly called potentially unwanted applications (PUA), are typically bundled with other freeware, and installed as an option most people do not uncheck during installation. Please try the following online solution doc to check and remove any PUAs on your computer:
Uninstalling Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA)

After the above steps, if the issue still persists,  we suggest you perform a malware scan to check your computer safety by using Trend Micro HouseCall tool. Here's a reference doc for the steps:
Scanning your computer using Trend Micro HouseCall (For Home Users)

I'm experiencing the same issue. I just got the Win10 anniversary update, I'm not sure if it's related but i started noticing the issues after the update.

Thanks for the tip on disabling "Check if programs try to make unauthorized changes to system settings and files that could threaten your security." It helped the browsers run faster.

Yes, tried all the options above. None of them worked for me.
It feels like Trend Micro is scanning every move I make since it takes a few seconds to process every click. After I switch Trend Micro off my computer works a whole lot faster.
