Trend Micro will not update.

I have attempted to manually update Trend Micro security with no effect. It is 3 days past the last update, software signals a need to connect to the internet to maintain protection, internet is available. I have tried stopping service, deleting temporary files, restarting service, and forcing an update through the about software; no effect. Please advise.

This may or may not be relevant, but yesterday (first time) my TREND icon was totally unresponsive.  Nothing I did made the program open.  So I ran the diagnostic tool, & suddenly Trend opened without my doing anything.

Please make sure that you don't have other security software installed on your computer other than Trend Micro. This will conflict with our software and both software won't work properly. If there are no other security software installed other than Trend Micro, you may apply the hotfix from this article:

"Connect to the Internet" error message appears on the Trend Micro Security software

It was really strange, & only happened that one time. As always, I booted up, right-clicked, chose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR---& then clicked YES when asked if I want Trend to make changes to my computer---THEN NOTHING!!!!  In  multiple attempts to open Trend, it was unresponsive. So I decided to re-install Trend.

For some reason, lots of Internet sites offer "free Trend downloads", but are not Trend. So then I clicked START (w10) --- Trend --- & troubleshooting tool. As the Troubleshooter was running, the Trend screen came up & the program has worked fine since.

Thank you for the information. It seems that Trend Micro program is still loading when you clicked the icon that is the reason why nothing happens when you clicked it multiple times. 

Trend Micro Troubleshooting Tool is a support tool that will help you follow the troubleshooting instructions provided by our Technical Support Engineers. Running this tool won't fix the issue of your Trend Micro program automatically.
