Hi ubutedoc and welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, the 2017 version no longer works with Windows XP. The good news is that you can still use your Maximum Security program on your XP machine by using this installer for the 2016 version.

Also, please be informed that Microsoft themselves no longer support the Windows XP and we advise you to upgrade that laptop to a more recent operating system.

For additional information on that, you may check this guide: Trend Micro's official statement for Windows XP's Consumer End of Support (EOS)

If you ever encounter a problem with installation or if you have anything else in mind, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Hello ubutedoc and welcome to the community!

Thanks for asking here and hope you are doing great today.

As for your question about the compatibility of the latest version of the Trend Micro program on Windows XP operating system. I am sorry to inform you but the latest version or the Trend Micro 2017 version is no longer compatible since Microsoft has officially ended its support, this means that they will no longer create updates including security updates for this operating system. In line with this we strongly advise all our customers to upgrade to the latest Windows operating system for them to install the latest version of the Trend Micro program. Upgrading to the latest version of Windows operating system prevents threats such as the WannaCry outbreak that affected Windows XP computers.

I hope this was able to answer your question, please feel free to post or comment on this community.

Thank you!
