Trend Micro Max 12.0 keeps restarting...My computer repeatedly slows to a crawl, then I notice Trend Micro has turned off and is starting up. What is the cause?

Hi mikecasaceli,

By restarting, do you mean it is turning on and off automatically? What indicator does it show? How frequent do you encounter this behavior? Having other security software may cause this issue so kindly check and uninstall them.

Thanks,

Yes. On the bottom right corner of the screen (taskbar), the Trend Micro icon will disappear and then reappear. When I hover over it, it reads that it's starting protection. It happens very frequently when I'm opening and switching between Google Chrome tabs. Trend Micro is the sole security software on my computer.

I see. Can you please update the program to its latest version? Here's how:
  1. Open the Trend Micro main console.
  2. Click on the icon of a man at the upper right of the screen.
  3. Select About the software.
Monitor if this will solve the issue.

Hi mikecasaceli

My suggestion is to do a clean install!
I quote a TM Employee:

1. Press Windows + R, then type in "supporttool". Choose yes when the UAC prompts. 2. In the Diagnostic Toolkit window, go to the Uninstall tab. Click Uninstall Software.
Note: Do the Restart after you complete the steps until step 4.
3. Download the Remnant File Remover through the link below. Right click on the downloaded file and run it as administrator.

4. Download the Permission Tool through the link below and run it as administrator.

5. Restart the computer.

After that, you may already try installing the program. You may refer to the link below.

Kind regards,
Tom

Hi mikecasaceli,

We are still investigating this issue. You may proceed with the clean reinstallation of the program as suggested by our friend Tom Emmelot.

Let us know if you'll still encounter the same issue.

I am having the same issue. Grinding my PC to a slow crawl. Frustrating to get my work done. Seems to have started happening with an update to Windows 7. I rolled back the update but no change.

The Permission link is not working. Any chance of letting us know the correct link. Thank you.
