Trend Micro is using 60% or more of my CPU, is there any way to battle this?

I've had problems in the past with my computer running slow, but now the problem is Trend Micro trying to use up all of my CPU, so between it and other background processes my CPU is consistently at 99%. Are there any settings I can change to fix this problem?

For your issue, please refer to the previous community discussion that Tom provided.
  1. Check if there are any conflicting software, if yes, please uninstall them.
  2. Check if there are some potentially unwanted applications (PUAs),  if there are some,  please uninstall them. 
  3. Reinstalling the latest version of Trend Micro Security program
