Trend Micro Internet Security Keeps Deleting Game EXE.

Hello,

I have had a issue with my recent purchase of Yakuza 0 on steam, Trend Micro keeps detecting it as malware and removing the games exe, causing the game to be unplayable, unless trend micro is disabled, but I would like to avoid this situation. I have tried to add the program to the folder/program exception list but it keeps getting removed no matter if I specify the game exe, the whole yakuza folder or even the entire steam folder. Does anyone know any potential solutions to this error?

My System Specs include

Windows 10
Trend Micro Internet Security Version 15.0.1172

You may be able to enter the game into the exemption list in the Trend Micro settings menu, and you can also pause Trend Micro while you are playing, that will stop any updates and unexpected uploads while you are playing. Explore all the menus in Trend Micro and have a look at what is there.

Cheers.

Tom.

I have the opposite problem with a program named PC Maestro. It downloaded against my will a few months ago, is shown in my ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS list---but refuses to be uninstalled. I get continual pop-ups telling me how badly my computer needs help---but when I CLICK HERE TO FIX, it takes me to a website to enter my CC info. Yesterday two Trend techs ran my computer all day, but were unable to get rid of this monster. These programmers must be damned good to defeat Trend. If they could re-write your game, I'm sure it would run without interference.

Hi Tom,

So there is no way to keep Trend Micro running while playing the game? I have added them to exception list and I have gotten it to the point where Trend Micro will not instantly delete the exe, but now it deletes when I start playing the game as soon as the main menu is reached crashing the game. My main concern is the exception list not actually listening to what I have set.

Yes, you can pause it, go into device menu and mute mode, set the time limit.

This is one of the first things I tried when setting up the exception list but as soon as I start the game in mute mode it will just remove the exe file anyway, almost as if I have never even been set into mute mode.

Hi John

Have you tried adding the whole file's folder to the Exception List? This will ensure that Trend Micro will allow all its processes.

By the way, were you able to take note of Trend Micro detection on the file? The program will prompt a detection name when it deleted the file. Please let us know of it so that we can look into it further.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Trend Micro Deleted Yazuka 0's exe file.

Did this issue ever get a fix? I am having the same problem.

Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Trend Micro deleting my video game Yakuza 0's exe file even though its not a viru....

Hi supers4g,

Please upgrade to the latest version of the Trend Micro program and add this file to the Exception List. Here's how:

Configuring the Exception List of Trend Micro Security software

Also, were you able to take note of how it was detected by Trend Micro program? Normally, the program will show you a detection name. If you could provide it to us, we will be able to check it further.

Hi John and supers4g

If you could please provide us with a screenshot of the virus logs from the Trend Micro program, that will be highly appreciated. Those will help us a lot to check this. For instructions, you may check this link:

Hello, I have included the virus log from both the Trend Micro application and the one I generated as a text document, hope it helps! If you prefer it in a different format then please feel free to contact me.

Regards John
