Toolbar high consumption in Chrome / Win10 / Lenovo Edge2 15/16GB RAM- Tried disable then re-enable. Starts with memory consumption of approx 50K and memory consumption grows. up to 743K before disabling. Appears like a memory leak? Has anyone encountered this issue?

Hi @crt928,

Thank you for letting us know your concern. Regarding that, may I know the version of your Google Chrome browser as well as your Trend Micro program and Trend Micro Toolbar?

If you can provide a screen shot from your end, it would be better.

To check the version of the Trend Micro program:
1. Double-click the Trend Micro  shortcut icon on your desktop.
2. Click the human shadow icon, then click About the Software.
3. You can see the version of your Trend Micro program.

To check the version of TM Toolbar:
1. Open your Google Chrome browser.
2. Click on this:

3. Then go to Settings.
4. Click Extensions.
5. Then look for Trend Micro Toolbar and click on Details.
6. Then you can be able to check the TM Toolbar version. Please refer with the sample below:

To check Google Chrome version:

1. Press this icon:

2. Then choose Help.
3. Then lick About Google Chrome.

4. Then you can see the version of your Chrome:

Now, after you check all of those, please try to do the following:

1. On the Task Manager of your Google Chrome browser, please end process the tool bar.
2. Then try to clear the history and cache of your Chrome browser.
3. Then replicate the issue and check if it still persist.

Thank you and have a great day! :)

Hello crt928 and thank you for your response!

How many open tabs do you have on your Google Chrome when you captured that screen shot?
Because the Trend Micro Toolbar is designed to do a real-time scan on your web browsers while you are using or surfing the Internet. The more tabs open, the more memory usage it will consume because it will be more busy scanning and monitoring all of those tabs.

You can try to close all the processes of Google Chrome through your Task Manager first, then reopen it afterwards to check how if the issue persists.

Please let us know of any updates.

I have some tabs open but as you can see, the toolbar memory usage increased by ~100k overnight - I had did not use the machine overnight, since previous response. See attached image.

Hello crt928!

Thank you for the details that you have provided.

Based on the screenshot, it looks like it is an issue with the Trend Micro Toolbar in your browser. What we need to do is to uninstall the toolbar then reinstall it on your browser to isolate the issue.

To do that, please copy and paste this link in your browser chrome://extensions/ and you will be redirected to the Google Chrome extensions. From there, look for the Trend Micro Toolbar then click on "Remove from Chrome"

After removing the Trend Micro toolbar, you can follow the steps below on how to enable it again.

  1. Click the Chrome Web Store icon below to find the Trend Micro Toolbar in the web store.Google Chrome Web Store

  2. The web store will open in a new tab. Click the Add to Chrome button to download the Trend Micro Toolbar.Add to Chrome Trend Micro Toolbar

  3. Click Add when the Confirm New Extension window appears.A notification saying "Trend Micro Toolbar has been added to Chrome" will appear.Confirm New Extension
Please let us know if the solution works for you.

Followed suggested remove and re-adding TM Toolbar and is behaving as expected with memory consumption of 24,000k. So far, so good. Thank you for your assistance!
