5 or 6 times a day I get a warning that "Suspicious Software Blocked" and the name is "taskeng.exe" from Microsoft Corporation. Is this a malicious software or something from Microsoft that should be allowed to process?

Hi maxwell.brooks,

Welcome to community!

taskeng.exe is used by Task Scheduler and should be in this location C:\Windows\System32.
Could you confirm your activity when Trend Micro detects this file (e.g. opening Chrome, Edge, etc).

Hi maxwell.brooks and welcome to the community!

Thank you for posting your concern here.

I understand that you keep getting a pop-up for taskeng.exe. Actually, it is a Task Scheduler service by Microsoft. Probably, Trend Micro detected a suspicious process that is using the taskeng.exe.

We need to verify first if the process that has triggered Trend Micro's detection is malicious or not. With this, kindly take a screenshot of Trend Micro's Security Report for Security Threats. To open the Security Report, do the following:

1. Open the Trend Micro main console.
2. Click the Security Report icon beside the Settings icon.
3. For Security Threats, click on "See more details" and choose "Last Scan" from the drop-down menu.
4. Click on one of the detected files to see a closer look of the details.

Once you have the screenshot of the suspected file please post it here so that we can check the location of the suspicious process.

We'll be waiting for your updates.

Thank you and have a great day!

Manually check your Task Scheduler entries. There might be a bad command being run that Trend Micro is detecting.
