T M Maximum is causing internet to slow down

T.M. Maximum is causing my computer to slow down or stop when surfing the internet. If I turn off Maximum my surfing returns to normal speed with no problems. This is getting old, it happened a year or so ago and now it is doing it once again, I need this fixed ASAP.

FYI, my yearly subscription is set to renew in November, which I will not be doing if this problem is not fixed as this should never happen in the first place. I have been a loyal customer for MANY years, but if I need to I will be switching to Mcafee Total protection.

O.S. Microsoft Windows 10 Home version 10.0.17134 Build 17134
Google Chrome version 70.0.3538.67 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Trend Micro Maximum Security version 15.0.1172 (Component versions)

A very unhappy user.

Hi khanagan

Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers, that is only at working hours. I am just a volunteer!
I think he is busy to download version 15.0.1204

Kind regards,
Tom

Hello khanagan,

We're sorry to hear that you encounter this issue with our product.

Since we have recently released the latest version of Trend Micro Security, the program might be performing the force upgrade.

Let us know if you still encounter the same issue after the said upgrade.

Regards,
Pat

Thanks Pat.  How long do these upgrades usually take? How do I check to see if this forced upgrade has been completed? Why do we not get any type of information on when this upgrade is going to be happening, so we are aware that there might be some sort of slowdown?

Thank you

Hi

If so ,
Uninstall TM.
Reboot.
Using the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool

Reboot
Download the latest version and reinstall here

Hope this helps

I waiting to see if it is the forced upgrade process (not update) is causing the issue as Pat suggested in a previous comment. This morning speed is back to normal and don't seem to have any lag, keeping my fingers crossed.

The problem must of been caused by thee forced upgrade as it is now gone. It would nice if we receive some sort of notification that our product was receiving a forced upgrade so people are aware of the why there is a slow down happening. Other wise how about notifying us of the link to the forced upgrade so we ca pick and choose when we want it done?

Thanks for the help ;)

Hi khanagan,

It is true that some users encountered internet connection issue during the download of the force upgrade. The force upgrade is done silently with the intention of giving users a seamless experience without having to do much just to get the latest version.

Your point is taken by the way, it would be nicer if users can get a notification about it. We'll try our best to make it happen by the next release.

Regards,
Pat
