Suspicious Software Blocked - regsvr32.exe

I receive the message Suspicious Software Blocked, For your protection, the program named below was prevented from performing an action that could pose a security risk.  Name: regsvr32.exe, From: Microsoft.

This is happening on my desktop PC, but not on my laptop.  I am running Windows 7 on both computers.  This message appears many times during the day and may appear when the computer is sitting idle.

The detected file regsvr32.exe is command-line utility in Microsoft Windows and it is a legitimate Windows file. However, a certain process might be using it that's why it keeps on getting detected as a malicious software. Kindly follow the steps below on how to check.

  2. Look for regsvr32.exe then right click on it then click on Go to service(s)
  3. Check if the running service for regsvr32.exe is valid.
