stop repeated request to install new Security Maximum

I have the 2017 version of Trend Maximum Security. Your app is trying to automatically install the new version of the app every time I log in. Trend tells me there is a conflict with software running on the machine. I am not willing to stop that application. I want to configure Trend so that it runs on the current version of Maximum Security without asking to upgrade every time I login. How do I do that?

Hi mwiener, Welcome to the Community!

Thank you for posting your concern here. Let me help you on this matter.

We just launched the newest version of the program recently, which is the 12.0 and what you’ve been receiving is the version that is good until 2018. I suggest you to proceed in upgrading your Trend Micro Maximum Security program to have the latest protection and updates. That way, you won’t be able to receive that notification afterwards.

Regarding the application that is a conflict with the Trend Micro program, if it is conflicting software, then the best way is to uninstall it because you cannot have two antiviruses in one computer at the same time. However, if it is not another antivirus, you can try to add the folder of the application on your Trend Micro program’s exception list.

You can follow the steps below on how to:

Configuring the Exception List of Trend Micro Security Software

I hope this helps you a lot. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reply back on this thread.

Thank you and have a great day!

The second application is an EDR/EPP application.  It is currently running with the old version of Trend just fine side by side hence I want to run both to provide current as well as advanced protection to the endpoint.  If I have to make a choice, Trend is going to loose.  Is there is no way to keep the current version of Trend running on my machine until the license expires?  I have never heard of a software application forcing an upgrade that is incompatible with existing software environment without giving the option to run the old version.   I have hundreds of machines I manage in various places and all of them are going to run into the same problem.

Hi @mwiener!

Thank you for letting us know about your concern. We do have a tool which you can use to disable the force upgrade, however, you'll need to do it per computer. You may check this link for the steps on how to get and use the hotfix:

[Hotfix] Disabling Trend Micro Security force upgrade notification

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply back to this thread for further help needed.

Thank you and have a great day!

I tried the patch on win10 machines and that seems to work fine.  Not so lucky on win 7 machines.  Is there a different patch?
