Slowdowns with Google Chrome

I recently have begun experiencing significant slowdowns in loading pages (average is 15 seconds) and at startup after the computer wakes up from sleep mode (average is 30 seconds). I am running Google Chrome 63.0.3239.84, 64-bit, have the latest version of TM Maximum Security, purchased in November 2017, and use Windows 10. I usually see a note at the bottom of the screen while a page is loading that says, "Waiting on Trend Micro extension." This slowdown has occurred only in the last week or so. Any suggestions on how I can get back to normal speed for accessing pages? Thank you.

Hi statelinecc,

Can we ask to perform the following procedures for you to check which Trend Micro extension is causing the problem?

Disable Trend Micro toolbar
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click on the 3 vertical icon on the upper right corner of the web browser.
3. Click on More Tools then choose Extensions.
4. Untick the check box for enable on the Trend Micro toolbar.
5. Reopen the Google Chrome web browser and check if the performance has become better.

Please tick on the toolbar after performing the check to see if the issue returns.

Disable the Password Manager Toolbar
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click on the 3 vertical icon on the upper right corner of the web browser.
3. Click on More Tools then choose Extensions.
4. Untick the check box for enable on the Trend Micro Password Manager toolbar.
5. Reopen the Google Chrome web browser and check if the performance has become better.

Please tick on the toolbar again after performing the check to see if the issue returns.

We will be waiting for your reply regarding this one.

Thank you. The Password Manager apparently was the culprit. Load time improved slightly when that was disabled, but only slightly. It remains slower than it was previously. I'll keep monitoring this.

Hi statelinecc,

Thank you for your fast response.

May I ask you to take a screenshot of the Google Chrome Extensions? This is for us to check for any possible conflicting software extension that might be causing the slow down on Google Chrome.

By the way, if in case you have found any program and its extension on Google Chrome that you are not using can I suggest to uninstall it as it can also be the cause of slow loading of the web browser.

Have a great day!

Hello statelinecc ! We appreciate your response.

We understand that you have noticed a slight improvement after disabling our Toolbar/Extension. We also have seen some other extension on the screenshot that you have posted. Have you tried disabling it for a moment and compare the performance as well so we can fully determine what seems to be causing the problem?

Also, the photo that you have sent doesn't seem to show all of the extensions that you have. Can we request for another photo that can show them all?

I have no other extensions enabled. I have temporarily disabled the other extensions shown, with no change in upload speed. I'm not sure what is causing the slowdown now. Thank you for your help.

Hi again statelinecc,

Can we try completely disabling all Trend Micro components to check if the speed would be significant?

Disabling or enabling your Trend Micro Security software

Speed improved with all TM components disabled, but it's still not as fast as it should be (or has been), which seems to indicate the problem doesn't originate with Trend Micro. I'll keep working on this. Thanks again.

Hi statelinecc,

Thank you for confirming the issue you have experienced. You may try to contact your internet service provider to check on them if the issue would be resolved since we you are informing the problem is mostly on the loading of web pages.

Thank you and have a great weekend!
