ShortcutLauncher.exe error

Hi TM Team,
I had an error occurred when updating the patches. It shows:
ShortcutLauncher.exe - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000409) occurred in the application at location 0x3f88e97e.
I already tried to remove the program and reinstall it, it success for all except when go to updating. Then right now there is a ShortcutLauncher.exe error whenever startup.

For your issue, we understand that you already tried reinstalling your Trend Micro Security, but we suspect there are still remnants of the previously installed Trend Micro Security software. If possible, please follow the steps below to reinstall you Trend Micro Security again.

Step1. Using Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool to remove remnants
Using the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool

Step2. If the following folder still exists, please remove it.
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro

Step3. Installing the latest version of your Trend Micro Security.
Installing Maximum Security 2017

Hi Linda, sorry for the late reply. I have tried the Remover Tool & manual delete of the folder. Then I install it again. It run successfully, however, still on the same process, ShortcutLauncher.exe error prompt again when I run the patch update.

Just want to confirm, how did yo run the patch update? Can you provide the steps for us?

For your issue, please give the following steps a try:

Step1. Using Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool to remove remnants again
Using the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool

Step2. Create a new user account with numbers and alphabets only in Windows 
Here's a windows support page for your reference:

Step3. Using the new account to log on your computer, and do the following.
  1. Click Start bottom and search cmd.
  2. When cmd.exe appears, right-click it and select Run as administrator. This will open the Command Prompt window as an administrator.
  3. Type or copy and paste “sfc/scannow”, then press Enter. Windows Resource Protection will scan your system to see if there's any integrity violation.
