shorcutlauncher.exe application error

On 2 new PCs running Windows 7 SP1 with all updates installed and Trend freshly installed, we receive an error message regarding "shorcutlauncher.exe" with the following error:
"The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000409) occurred in the application at location 0x3f4be97e"
Are there any known issues that may cause this? Trend is up to date.

Hi @nicole, Welcome to the Trend Micro Community!

Upon checking the error code you are encountering, the error code is a Windows error that usually appears on startup. It's possible that the issue is caused by a software that is installed on your computer and is associated with the "shortcutlauncher.exe" process. Just to let you know, our software does not create a process named "shortcutlauncher.exe" in the Task Manager. 

As of now, the recommended solution we can provide you is for you to disable applications, except the Trend Micro program, that run on startup and check if the issue persists. You may refer to the steps below on how to do this:

1. Open the Run window. (To do this, simultaneously press the Windows Key and the "R" button on your keyboard until a small window pops up on the lower left. Clear out anything written in the text field.)

2.Type "msconfig" without the quotes and click OK.

3. On the "System Configuration" window, click on "Startup".

4. Remove the check marks on all applications listed EXCEPT the Trend Micro program > Click Apply and OK.

5. Restart your computer and check if the issue persists. If the error code disappeared after restarting the computer, one of the applications that were listed on the Startup tab in the System Configuration may need to be reinstalled.
