Serial number doesn't work

When I type in the serial number I get the message that it works for another edition of Trend Micro security software. It directs me to get the right one, which changes nothing. I have installed a trial version, but payed for a full version. What can I do?

For this issue, using the serial number to activate on a wrong Trend Micro program can also result in getting the error message. We've checked your account information and we confirmed that you are using the Trend Micro Maximum Security.
