Security Alert Windows

Hi I am getting a security alert from what appears to be Microsoft Windows about a virus on my computer....It tells me to call a support tech who I called and they wanted access to my computer I denied them access. I thought this software which I paid 90.00 buck for would protect me, have you heard about this from anyone else running window operating system?

IT IS A SCAM!!!!  You did the right thing denying access. I'm sure a tech or others will be able to assist you more. 

It may be in your best interest to call Trend Micro for assistance.

Here's a reply from a T.M. tech from a few months ago on the same issue:

Hello Mickey and welcome to the Community!

Thank you for letting us know about this.

It's good to know that you did not call the number from the alert that popped up on your computer. The message that you saw is fake and is only trying to scare you. Basically, what you did is already enough since you did not let anyone get into your computer. The most important thing in this kind of scenario is getting rid of the message. Or if possible, it will be better if you can reach out to us so we can gather information to prevent this from happening again.

This type of technical support scam is very rampant nowadays. The message itself does not have the capability to harm your computer unless you will call the number indicated on the message and let someone have access to your computer.

If ever that this will happen again, please do not ever call the number. Instead, you may reach us through phone or chat support. You may click here for our contact information.

I just experienced the same scam and agree with "Walkinlove" that I am frustrated and disappointed that this happens after paying for TrendMicro protection!!! I don't think this should ever happen with a good protection software package.

Hi, RICH. We're sorry if you are also experiencing that. That message is just a type of scam and blocking a page same as that (even though it's not harmful) is not a good solution. It will be best, as woodartisan55 mentioned, to contact our support so that we can add the exact URL to our Global Site Safety.

It's an issue we've been facing even before and providing solutions then. Please help us improve our solutions...feel free to send us suggestions.
