Removing duplicate files efficiently

Do I have to select each duplicate file individually to remove it? Is there a way to select ALL? I have 100s maybe 1000s of duplicate files and this could take forever.

I'm the one asking the question.

Hi murphypeggyedina, you can use Search feature of Windows OS to find out all the duplicate files, then press Ctrl key + A key to select all of them and delete them.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your help!  Another, probably silly, question about this.  The search brings up "duplicate" files.  If I remove all, will it remove the original also?  The answer appearing after all is selected states "All copies of this file will be removed."  I'm a bit confused as to whether it means the original also. Help!

Hi @murphypeggyedina,

To answer you question, I'm afraid that after all is selected states, the original files also selected. If you want to keep the original files, I suggest after selecting all of them, you can press Ctrl key still, and click the original files you want to keep on your computer.

Help me!  I need to recover these files! They are very sentimental pictures. When I brought up duplicate files and it showed all the duplicates, I assumed it did not mean the original but just the duplicates. I have deleted many over the last three days.
Where can I go to recover these files?  I followed the "Restoring files quarantined by Trend Micro Titanium" but the steps did not bring up the screen shown in the directions.  And since I show 0 threats stopped, there was no "threats stopped" to click on which would have taken me to detailed logs that I could opt to restore file.  Please help me.

Hi Peggy, I am so sorry that I didn't remind you the original file is also included in the search result : (

If you haven't emptied the Recycle Bin yet, you can find the original pictures in it and restore the files by selecting the file and clicking Restore this item. If you already empty the Recycle Bin, I suggest contacting Microsoft Support or the PC maker for further assistance.

Please let me know how it goes.
