Welcome to the Community, glen316!

Sorry for the trouble but can we isolate the issue first? You may try browsing the internet using your mobile phone or any other devices you have there and in case you encounter the same slow internet speed, you can contact your Internet Service Provider.

Also, kindly help us understand how you determine the internet speed on your Mac. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the information, glen316!

Have you tried browsing the internet on a different device and how do you disable the Trend Micro program on your Mac? Kindly also check if the Automatic Proxy Configuration is enabled on your Mac Settings.

Warm Regards...

Hi, glen316

Please try doing ping tests while Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac is running and when it's not running/exited. Kindly send screenshots to further isolate this issue.

You can open Network Utility using spotlight search, go to Ping tab and click Start button. Don't forget to check the network address to ping.

Thanks!

Do you see this information while Trend Micro program is turned off or turned on? Please compare the results when pinging for while Trend Micro is turned off and turned on.

-I'm not a Trend Micro representative, but I like to give you some suggestion-

Hello,

It sounds very strange that TM by itself afflict downrate speed. It seems to be PC slow, not the internet speed.

I'm not so used to Apple, unfortunately.

Anyway you can try to set DNS as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.

Hi glen316,

Thank you for your response,

There are possible causes why wireless is more effective at your case, maybe there are a problem on the cable that you are using for the internet, since there are same ping rates when Trend Micro Security is enabled or disabled it will be better if you try to contact your Internet Service Provider so they can check if there is a problem on your connection.

Thanks!

Hi glen316

Poor Service provider.

If i use that number in the Netherlands i got a bad result but match better as yours!
If i use google.nl  it is really normal for me  200 Mbps cable connection.
h
Good luck with the provider.

Kind regards,
Tom
