Laptop keeps rebooting whenever.  I did do something stupid and my guess is that this is so my fault.  I allowed them access...they said they were with Microsoft.  I paid money but I also got it back. What could I have done?? Why CAN'T Trend Micro find what they did??   I kept one note that I saw...can send.  So anyway...stupidity did me in :(

Hi @mrscook and welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear this happened to you. I believe what you've encountered is something we call as Technical Support Scam. These comes from fake warning ads or pop-ups on your PC informing you that there's something wrong with your PC even though there's none and they will lure you to contact a specific number. Usually, they pretend to represent a legitimate software publisher such as Microsoft or even Trend Micro and will request remote access on your PC.

If you believe that you may have already fallen for a third party scam by telephone, do the following:

  • If you are able, uninstall or delete programs or applications installed by the suspicious third party support. If you utilize backups or snapshot images (such as Windows System Restore), try reverting to a previous restore point or backup taken before the questionable call or session.
  • If you provided any passwords, change them immediately on all sites or areas you may have used them.
  • If you already provided your credit card information, you should contact your issuing bank and request a fraud investigation and/or reverse the charges.
  • If you still have issues on your system that you suspect may be related to malware, contact our Technical Support for further assistance.
We hope these information help! Thank you and have a great day!

-I'm not a Trend Micro representative, but I like to give you some suggestion-

obviously it is not a Trend Micro related issue.

Nobody can know what they exactly done, so I strongly suggest you to contact a CERTIFIED Technician to format and reinstall Windows.
I hope you did a backup of the most important files.

Keeps rebooting? May be a batch files or something like this has been copied in your computer.

Or you can restore your PC to a point BEFORE this intervention.
