I have recently purchased a QNAP NAS drive, model No. TS653B, which can be used as a standalone unit. It resides on the network/internet. I believe that it has a linux based OS. There is a another vendor's antivirus advertised but I wondered if it can be protected by Trend Micro. I have tried the option to add another device but cannot see this item or sure how to find it. Can you please assist?

Hi Paul.surfing

Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers, I am just a volunteer.
If you can see the drives at "Custom Scan" you can scan the drives, but  not the whole NAS drive, that is not accessible, because it is as you mentions Linux.

Hope this info helps.

Kind regards,

-I'm not a Trend Micro representative, but I like to give you some suggestion-

nice device!

If I remember good there's a built in antivirus in that device, you can turn it on (but I think it is by default) on the web page, Application screen.
I suggest you to set rules properly: port forwarding, IP restrictions, protocols., etc.
Set also a very strong password to remotly access datas.

Take care that a -disk to remote disk- scan will be terribly slow... anyway it should be possible as suggested by Tom.

Hello Paul.surfing ! Welcome to the community!

We understand that you wish to add protection on a Network based storage.

We would like to apologize but our consumer security programs can only be used on Windows based and Mac OS X based computers that are running with compatible versions. The Trend Micro Security is not compatible with the device that you wish to have the protection on.

I hope this helps.
