Hi @silverclouds, I understand your frustration.

For this protection disabled issue, we suggest you reinstall the latest version of Maximum Security 11 to reset the program and patterns. Hopefully, a reinstall will reset everything back to normal.

Here's a reference doc for the steps:
Reinstalling the latest version of Trend Micro Security program

If the above procedures did not work, your issue could be due to conflict unwanted software, or PUA - potentially unwanted applications. If you find these installed on your PC, please go through your installed programs and uninstall them.

Programs to remove before installing Trend Micro Security
It's a long list, but a simple way to identify conflict software is making sure no software from major security product companies is installed on your machine first:
  •  McAfee (AntiSpyware, Online Backup, SiteAdvisor, etc.)
  •  Kaspersky (Security Scan, etc.)
  •  Symantec / Norton (Antispam, Online Backup, etc.)
  •  AVG
Uninstalling Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA)
  • Some common PUAs are: Ask Toolbar, MySearch, Coupon Printer for Windows, Searchqu, and many others.
Please let us know if above solutions solve your problem. If not, please send us some screenshots of the error messages you're seeing, and we will do our best to help.
