i am running windows 7 home premium, with Trend Micro Internet Security. i have contacted customer support about this issue, and have been told a bunch of hooey about 'competing antivirus programs giving false positives'. so the problem is this:

about a month ago my system started running very slow after startup. when i check the processes in task manager, the main one that seems to be using the CPU is Trend Micro. while it's running, i can't use firefox or thunderbird, and now almost any program i try to use right after startup stops responding for long periods of time. about a week or so ago, about 10 processes in task manager stared showing *32 symbols beside the process names, which is completely new. i googled it, and spyhunter was suggested to correct this. i downloaded it and installed it, and also contacted Trend Micro tech support online to see what this problem could be. i was told that all of these problems were due to the spyhunter, which was a 'bogus' program (PCMag doesn't seem to think so, since it's been around about 10 years and has a registry code) and the tech support person told me to uninstall it, which i did, after it ran a scan and found 8 malware infections that Trend Micro has no awareness of on my system.

problem is, nothing has changed. installing and uninstalling the spyhunter did nothing to the *32 or slow startup problem.

i've been using Trend Micro faithfully for over 10 years. maybe it's time to switch.

We understand that you are encountering slow downs, we've investigated your account and found out that you already contacted one of our support. Upon our investigation it would seem that the version of your Internet Security is not up to date, if you are using an older version of Internet Security you may download the latest software on this link:

Slow pc performance due to high CPU or memory usage of CoreServiceShell.exe

Slow downs can happen due to Malware Infection or Conflicting Software, to rectify this concern click on this link:

Installing Internet Security 10 (2016)

Cheers!
