Problem with quick scanning/full scanning

Not sure why, but whenever i click on quick scan/full scan, the app is just frozen at the 'Checking the computer... Preparing to scan' page, even after 5+ hours. Is there a way to solve this?

My Trend Micro product version is version 12.0

I quote TM Kiko in a similar problem.

This kind of performance issue, scan hangs issue, is usually caused by other security programs or potentially unwanted programs that might be installed on your PC. Kindly check on your Installed Programs list and uninstall any other security programs or potentially unwanted programs on the PC.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please try Tom's advice as normal troubleshooting.

Do you also have programs that is not necessarily a security program but can also scan your files? Like CCleaner, make sure to stop scanning using that program before doing a scan with Trend Micro.
