I have somehow downloaded a program called "onlinemapfinder".
It has taken over as my browser homepage and when I investigated this I found that it is a virus-like program.
I am s little surprised that it got past my protection; I have the latest TrendMicro Maximum Security software and I have not had this type of problem in the past.
I need to get rid of this pest as quickly as possible. Can you advise accordingly please.

Hello peterhusband and welcome to the community.

Sorry to hear the inconvenience that you are experiencing. The "onlinemafinder" maybe a potentially unwanted application, some PUA piggyback on with a program so that it is part of the program that users are installing. The Trend Micro program detects malwares that infects computers without the user knowing it, but if the user has provided permission for vulnerable programs. The Trend Micro program will treat this vulnerable program as trusted, that is why when you install a program make sure that you are only installing one. In addition, please check your Programs and Features list to see if the "onlinemapfinder" is part of the list and uninstall it. Or if you installed a program and experience this behavior afterwards, please uninstall the program and check.

You can also call our support if you are having a hard time uninstalling the program. Here is the link for our support.
