Privacy breaches of TrendMicro Maximum Security ?

I just learned that Apple has removed pieces of TrendMicro Apps from Apple Store
which seem to have violated the privacy of their users.
TM alledgedly compiled a zip file of browserdata, history, etc. which was then sent to most likely TrendMicro servers on a regular basis.

First, in Europe we have GDPR in effect since May 2018.
Is TrendMicro fully compliant with this regulation or in violation ?

If so, what is TM doing to become fully GDPR compliant ?

We are using TrendMicro in both a professional (medical) and private environment.
This is intollerable and we want to get a clear statement from TrendMicro what exactly
is going on and what the impact is on our install base.
We have TM Maximum Protection running for years on PC's, tablets, iPhones trusting
TM to provide a secure service in all aspects.

If Apple has taken that step, what about Microsoft which is the OS of our PC's ?

Can we still trust TM ?

Many thanks to provide a swift and concise answer.
