Hi. I recently received a real time notification that my Mac had logged two 'POSSIBLE_HIFRM-5' threats. Under 'Response' it says ignored. I then went to their location, under 'Where Found', so I could delete them but couldn't find them. I did a search on my Mac for them but nothing! Could you please advise what I should do next? I'm worried this could be potentially damaging. Thanks.

Welcome to the community, badams12

Thanks for asking here and we sincerely apologize for the delay in our response regarding this concern.

I just want to let you know that it is possible that the threat that has been detected is not harmful or damaging your computer in any way. When the a threat has been ignored by the program, usually, it is a file/program that cannot run on a Mac, more likely, those files are created for Windows computer instead.

Here's some steps that you can do so you can get rid of those files.
1. Check the location of the files again (Where Found), it's possible that the location of those files is a hidden folder (~/Library).
2. If so, kindly try to use your Finder to manually search for the exact location/folder of the files.
3. Once found, you try to press Cmd + Shift + .(dot) to show hidden files.
4. Look for the files that has been detected and delete it manually.
5. Press Cmd + Shift + .(dot) again to hide the files again.
6. Empty your Trash Bin once you are done.

I hope this helps.

Please let us know of any updates as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful day ahead!

Regards,

Hi badams12,

Can I ask you to provide us the full path under "where found" regarding this detected possible threat?

You may go to the logs and choose to export the results in CSV format so that you can easily copy the full path under "where found".

We will be waiting for your reply.

All the best!

Hi badams12,

It seems that the path where the file has been found is on your web browser's cache.

Can I ask you to try performing this procedure below to clear the web browser's cache?

1. Open Safari. Click Safari in the upper left hand side of your screen. In the menu that appears, click Preferences.

Safari Preferences
2. In the window that appears, click the Privacy tab. Click the button Remove All Website Data....

3.Click Remove Now in the pop up window that appears.

4. Please try to perform a scan again to check if the files are still going to be detected.

Well done, badams12!

You can monitor the PC if the Trend Micro program still prompts you any similar messages but, apparently, the issue has been resolved. Thank you! :)
