Not sure trend micro is working

Whenever I click on Trend Micro icon, immediately goes to scan. Stop button doesn't work.
Clicking on taskbar, TrendMicro shows cycling loop with Quickscan 0%, can not stop.
What is going on? Am I protected?

I think the best you can do is a reinstall:

We understand that you are having troubles with the Trend Micro Program. Allow me to help you with this.

Based on your problem description, the Trend Micro program seems to be stuck on a loop during the start-up. It might be caused by a faulty installer file that you have used the first time that you have installed it on your computer. I suggest following our friend Tom Emmelot's advise to have it reinstalled using a freshly downloaded installer file.

Also, please make sure that you are not running or having it installed along with another Antivirus program as this is one of the major reasons of these types of problems.
