My Trend Micro shuts down at 79% freezes up computer

Thank you for letting us know about this issue that you have encountered. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Going back to your concern, when you say Trend Micro Security "shuts down" at 79%, is this on the scan process or installation?

If you are referring to an issue with scan, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Disable Trend Micro Security
  • Pressthe Windows button and letter "R" both on your keyboard at the sametime to open the Run Console
  • Once the Run Console is open, type: supporttool
  • Doingthat will open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit. Once open, go to (C)Uninstall and then click on "5. Stop all components"
  • Wait for 3 minutes for the toolkit to disable the program.

STEP 2: Run Hotfix
  • Please click here to download the Hotfix.
  • Once the hotfix is downloaded, right click on the file and then select "Run as administrator".
  • Accept the License Agreement and click the Next button.
  • Click the Install button.
  • Click OK when a warning window opens.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Open the Trend Micro program on your computer and then replicate the issue by running another scan.
